Who Needs Symbolism?

I walk through the rain,
And think of it,
If only for a second,
As the symbol of my pain.
But I think it through,
And realize:
How could something so eternal
Symbolize something so new?
The rain was here before me,
And will be here after I die.
So perhaps the rain is symbolized
By how I feel inside...
